Alert Bay is on Cormorant Island, approximately 15 km east of Port McNeill on the north-east Coast of Vancouver Island. The facility is the homeport to 49 commercial fishing vessels and 20 recreational vessels. Alternate moorage facilities are located in Port McNeill (Vancouver Island) and Sointula (Malcolm Island) 15 km north.
